A poem for old friends
What a splendid poem. 👌 I enjoy your work!
Here's one back:
sun showers
the honeysuckle--
kisses wild & sweet
Sorry, this is not the same season as yours!! The above is a forthcoming haiku of mine
in the Haiku Northwest 35th Anthology, 2024.
I'm a retired teacher/professor of English,
a hermit becoming happy
again. Thank you.
Thank you Sherry! Such a compliment to come from a professor of English 🙏Your haiku is beautiful! Congratulations on having it published.
The last line of your comment is the most blessed of all... 'a hermit becoming happy again' 💛
Gorgeous, a really beautiful ode to a simple life..
Thank you Sinead 💛
I love the comfort of the warm and familiar. 💞💞💞
I feel this piece deeply. 💞
Thank you Dawn, me too! 💛
I loved this poem.I'd tell my younger self to not worry about what people thought of her and have more confidence to be herself - loved magazines too back in the day, I had stacks of them and used to re-read the over and over!
Yes Jenna! I wonder can we find that deep-seated confidence as teenagers or is it all the living that brings it.💛
That's such a good point, the confidence comes from living I think. It's the comparison that was all consuming back then too.
This has spun me off in many swirls.
A few minutes beside the fire.
A wind down and a sharing of what is because once, it was.
Mmmmmm.
I love how you and others found yourself by the fire, when no fires are mentioned... the magic of poetry 💫 Thank you for your kind words Matthew 💛
There is the light of autumn and the crisp coolness of the air in this poem.
Your question in the end is an interesting one- I’m going to ponder it for a while…🍁
PS « Cosmo »… 🤦🏻♀️that has brought memories !
I think I would cringe to re-read some of those Cosmo magazines 🤣 I am pretty sure my teenage self wouldn't listen to me. She knew everything!!
Love this, makes me feel warm and cosy, like I an sitting with you beside the fire, reminiscing.
